Fosforito Cultural Centre: Flamenco Museum in Cordoba

Fosforito Cultural Centre is located in a beautiful house built in the fifteenth century, which is popularly known as Inn of the Colt. (Posada del Potro)

In the past, this neighborhood was one of the most important in Cordoba: the streets were brimming with vitality and many craft workshops and taverns opened their doors.

However, over the years the district deteriorated. To the extent that the emblematic Posada del Potro was abandoned in the 1950s.

In the last decades tourism has brought prosperity to this neighborhood of Cordoba. And the City Council had the brilliant idea of converting the old Posada del Potro into a cultural center dedicated to Fosforito.

Fosforito was a lengendary flamenco singer (cantaor), who was born in Cordoba in 1932. His discography is extensive and he was even honored with countless awards, including "La Llave de Oro del Cante Flamenco" (2005), one of the most prestigious awards in the world of flamenco.

Fosforito Cultural Centre in addition to housing an interesting museum on the evolution of Flamenco, also organizes all kind of activities related to the world of Flamenco (photo exhibitions, record launches…).

At the same time, an interesting Flamenco library, a video library and a shop have been built to complete this wonderful museum dedicated to Flamenco music. In short, this Cultural Centre is a perfect place to broaden your knowledge of this musical genre.
